Tarime Rural MP John Heche has appealed to Tarime residents especially from the mining township of Nyamongo to provide maximum cooperation to the recently formed Muhongo committee, tasked to look into permanent solutions concerning various problems that exist between North Mara Mine and local residents surrounding the mine.
The committee that was given a one - month period by the Government to identify and iron out the basic constraints deterring progress between the investor and locals is charged to bring solutions that will conclude the ever unending claims by the 'wananchi' of delayed and unfair compensation, that has led to their continuous living close to the mining area which might impact their health.
While the inquest is scheduled to hand over the final findings and possible solutions on 23rd March to the Energy and Minerals Minister, Prof Sospeter Muhongo, it will also look into claims from the gold miner Acacia that there is continuous development activities in the surveyed land by locals vying for higher compensations. Some of the locals refused to receive compensations for their properties even after being approved by valuers.
Heche said in Tarime yesterday that local residents as well as all peace loving Tarime residents were duty bound to provide the necessary information to the probe team geared towards bringing a lasting solution to the long outstanding problems.
